Decorate a christmas tree

 

For this activity we were asked to write about the things we were thankful for and also decorate a christmas tree.

To accomplish this task we had to add as much decorations as we could that were connected to christmas, also we had to write about all the things we were thankful for and also the things we thought were special this year!

Diving giraffes

 

We were learning to write a recount about diving giraffes, we were trying to hook our reader into our writing and also trying to use the best adjectives that we can use, we were trying to use interesting sentence starters to make our writing more interesting! We were trying to use figurative language to show the actions of the giraffes, also we were using level three vocabulary.

I enjoyed describing the giraffes in different ways, also I really enjoyed being the person in the story and describing how I felt and what I did, I enjoyed writing about something that's interesting to me so that  helped me write better.

I found it challenging to make all the sentences and paragraphs make sense. I had to make sure to include everything through the story and not miss anything out. I found it hard getting all the sentence starters interesting to make sure it includes everything.


Next time I need to use kaiwhakarite to work faster and get the job done. Also I could add more into my paragraphs to make sure the reader is hooked in throughout the story I could add more vocabulary to make my writing more interesting.

Te Whare Tapa Wha

 


We were learning about our four walls and how we can keep them all up because if one falls we need to use the other walls to fix it.  We had to put our ideas into all the four walls the walls are physical, spiritual,mental and emotional and family and social.  Also we had to add three pictures in each wall about what they all mean to us.

I found it easy to think of the three pictures in the four walls and also to find the exact right picture that I think represents the most.

We were using our learning asset whaiwhakaaro, being a thinker by using images to reflect what each pou means to us and how it makes us stronger, and how it makes me the best me I can be. I used images to reflect what keeps my walls up.

Onomatopoeia fireworks poem!

we were learning to use onomatopoeia, onomatopoeia is a word to describe the sound of something, for example if you were doing a cow it could be MOO or someone jumping into the water it could be SPLASH!  Our poem was about fireworks, we had to explain what fireworks sound like and what you think you'd see if you were watching and hearing fireworks.

I found it easy to add in all the onomatopoeia because I've been to watch fireworks so I know what kind of sounds there are when you listen to fireworks.

I found it hard to add enough detail to make it a big enough poem I also found it hard to make sure Im using similes and alliteration as well as onomatopoeia.

Next time I need to work faster at getting my ideas into the poem and not keep changing every time i think i'm finished.  I also need to get better at making sure it makes sense. 

I was a thinker/whaiwhakaaro, because I thought about all the best onomatopoeia that will fit my writing and make sure it makes sense. I was also a thinker because I used similes and alliteration in my poem as well as using onomatopoeia.

The Ancient creature


 
I was focusing on being a communicator and being able to share my ideas through writing!
I used a variety of sentence starters but next time I think I could level them up.
I used similes to make my writing more descriptive and I also used alliterations and great adjectives to describe.
Next time I plan to use better sentence starters so more people want to read it. 

Famous New Zealander/Lois Muir

  


I was a communicator by asking questions of others and helping them with the learning they found hard.  I was also a communicator by letting others help me with what I could have as questions for my famous New Zealander - Lois Muir.

I was a self manager by using my time well by getting my learning done in time and also by getting my nine  comix pages done.  

I was a researcher by researching online to out about Lois Muir and now I know lots of things about her  and also comix let me present my learning in a different way like for example we write a story about a character instead of

Then and Now

 

 


  • I researched to find about the 1900s and about what had changed since then to now.
  • I asked Mrs Leggett about what she did at her school and then compared it from then to now.
  • I organised my ideas to make sence and put my thinking in lots of text boxes so people can understand better.
  • I looked up some pictures and put them on my slide so everyone can see what things looked like in the olden days.
  • I communicated by using mote to share my ideas so people can listen to how I would say it.
  • I shared all the things that I know and how someone else might get some information from listening to my ideas.  
  • I communicated by putting all the pictures next to the writing that matched it.
  • I was a self manager by using my time well and got my slides finished.
  • I was a self manager by getting my learning done by myself and I did not keep redoing my mote.
  • I put my pictures on fasternuff without taking ages to pick what to do.

Caption James Cook

 


We were learning about caption james cook, we had to research about him and find the best data about him connecting to New Zealand and poverty bay, Gisborne. Then write it all our information into our book and then make a story about him on google slides on our chromebooks.

I found it easy to add the pictures at the top and also finding all the information to write in my book from my chrome book.

I found it hard to write all my writing from my book into my chromebook because we  had to make it into a story and not write down all our facts.

I enjoyed adding all the pictures to my slide and also I enjoy knowing lots of facts about James Cook now because he is really interesting.

Next time I need to write faster and also make it more into a story rather then just facts.

Change Poem

 


we were learning about what change is to us, our teacher put heaps of papers on the tables and we had to write what we thought change was and then we had to make a poster about it.

I enjoyed writing down all of my thinking on the sheets and got to pick any to put in our poster I also enjoyed seeing everyone else's posters that they thought was change.

I found it easy to do all the backgrounds and also found it easy to write everything down quickly because I already new what to write.

I found it hard to get everything put together on my poster and also make sure it makes sense and that its long enough for everyone to read.

where I learn best

We were learning about knowing ourselves as a learner and the spot or table we like sitting at, and also sharing a picture of our spot.

I found it easy to think about where I learn best because I always sit there. and also changing the background.

I found it hard to take a good picture because everyone was moving and also it was hard to get a good angle for my picture.

I really enjoyed changing the background and adding my own fonts because I can do it really fast

Next time I need to get it done faster and also I need to remember to put it in my inquiry folder.
